Truth is a fire that burns everything that is not truth. If you kindle it, it refines. If it kindles you it destroys.
When Jesus was preparing to give His life for our sin debt, He had the most intimate words recorded for His disciples. These words are recorded in the book of John chapters 13 - 16 followed by His prayer in chapter 17. You should read them every once in a while and you might be surprised at the depth and how words you've read over several times will suddenly come alive. This phenomena occurs throughout the Bible if you read it over and over with the attitude that you still have something to learn. This short take is about this phenomena.
In John 16: 7-15 Jesus said; Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Jesus, knew that His disciples still had a lot to learn, He had told them plainly that He was to die and be raised from the dead yet they didn't understand until after it had happened to give one example. The kingdom of heaven is so different from the world we grew up in that much of it is beyond our ability to comprehend without help. Something the Father has been teaching me is that you cannot build a kingdom of truth on a foundation of lies. He also has made me aware that if He told us the whole truth all at once we could not bear it as Jesus said above. One of the primary reasons for the Father filling us with the Holy Spirit is to teach us truth and He, the Spirit, is the only one that can do it. Even Jesus couldn't get the truth inside the apostles. The Spirit, by living inside you knows you so well, better than you know yourself, that He knows what will bring you to the place where you can comprehend. He alone also knows the amount of truth to reveal and at what rate. The truth can be redemptive or destructive and only the Holy Spirit knows you well enough to know at what rate the pressure of the truth will mold and not crush you.
