These problems in my early days,
these trials i must endure,
they led me to Your simple ways,
of that i can be sure.
You fought the fight and won the war,
and satan waits his doom,
and were the ones You fought it for,
to save us from our gloom.
You must have known as You hung there,
upon that cross of wood,
that satan causes men despair,
i know You understood.
Your wondrous love You showed us then,
none others can compare,
for when You died and rose again,
You saved us from despair.
You gave us all a goal to set,
though it be much too high,
i see the cross i can't forget,
it makes me have to try.
When i see men with no regard,
some use Your name in vain,
i have to try extra hard,
for these men to You came.
